The 21st Century Democratic-Republican Committee (DRC) is the principal committee of our Party. The committee coordinates strategy to support Independent and recovering Democrat and Republican Party candidates across the nation for national, state, and local office.
The Committee is committed to representing pro-democracy and pro-constitution Americans without resorting to extremism, obstructionism, or hyper-polarizing activity.
The inaugural structure of the 21st Century Democratic-Republican Committee is as follows:
The Committee
The Democratic-Republican Committee's primary function is to assist the 21st-century Democratic-Republican Party of the United States. The Committee helps organize and promote the Party's political platform and coordinates fundraising and election strategy.
The National Committee will establish and operate a national headquarters and website.
Committee Leadership
The Democratic-Republican Committee will be led by a Committee Chair who shall have an appointed position for a full-two-calendar-year term in that Chair’s initial founding service to the Committee. The Committee Chair is the Chief Executive Officer of the 21st Century Democratic-Republican Committee.
The Committee Chair will be assisted by a Committee Treasurer, Committee Secretary, and Committee General Counsel. The Committee Treasurer, Committee Secretary, and Committee General Counsel shall be initially appointed to a full-two-year term by the Founding Committee Chair. Following their initial full-two-year appointed term, the Committee Treasurer and the Committee Secretary are elected to four-year terms by the Committee Membership at the National Convention. The Committee General Counsel is appointed to four-year terms by the Committee Chair after the Committee Counsel’s initial two-full-year appointed term.
The Committee Treasurer keeps the financial records and administers the financial duties of the Committee. The Committee Secretary keeps the official records and administers the legal corporate duties of the Committee. The Committee General Counsel advises Committee leadership on all legal matters related to the organization and operation of the Committee.
Committee Membership
The Founding Chair will appoint one State Chair member from each U.S. state and territory to serve an initial two-full-year term as State Chair on a calendar-year basis. After the initial appointment by the Founding Chair, State Chair members will be elected to serve four-year terms on a calendar-year basis. The election of State Chair members will occur at a national convention held every four years.
Each State Chair will have one vote at DRC functions and will vote for the Committee Chair, Committee Treasurer, and Committee Secretary at each National Convention following the initial two-full-year term of the Committee Chairs.
State Committee Chairs will establish State Committees in each U.S. state. and most U.S. counties.
State Committee Chairs will also organize volunteer groups for specific interests.
National Convention
The Committee organizes and runs the 21st Century Democratic-Republican National Convention. When a Democratic-Republican is president, the White House controls the committee. When there is not a Democratic-Republican president, the Committee Chair controls the committee.
Superdelegates to the National Convention shall consist of: 1) national and state committee members, 2) sitting members of Congress and governors who are 21st Century Democratic-Republican Party members, and 3) distinguished party leaders as determined by the National Committee who are superdelegates for life. Superdelegates are unpledged attendees at the National Convention who do vote if no candidate receives a majority vote after three rounds of voting.
State Committee Members
Each state shall elect from its registered voters in that state a Committeeman, Committeewoman, and elect from its member college and university Young Independents clubs one representative to serve as a voting member on the State Committee. Each Committeeman and Committeewoman shall serve a four-year term on a calendar year basis. The Independent Youth Club representative shall serve a one-year term on a calendar year basis.
The Committeeman and the Committeewoman shall nominate a State Chair to be elected by the Committee at the National Convention. The nomination of a State Chair shall occur no less than two months before the National Convention.
The State Committeeman and the State Committeewoman will advise the State Party and National Committee on all political matters impacting their state, help organize the fundraising and election strategies of their state, and assist the National Committee and Party in encouraging voters to register with their state’s election divisions.
Each State Committee shall establish a state headquarters and conduct periodic voter registration drives. Each State Committee will also propose policy initiatives, recruit candidates for local, state, and federal office, and promote newsworthy information to the media and public.
State Committees will promote and participate in primaries, not caucuses, in their state when a sufficient number of candidates agree to run for the same office as members of the 21st Century Democratic-Republican Party.
Allied Campaign Organizations
Allied campaign organizations are governed by the National Committee, such as College or University Young Independents clubs.
