reason #1

PROTECTING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY & THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

The first reason we are forming and organizing the 21st Century Democratic-Republican Party is that American democracy and the United States Constitution are under attack from within and outside the USA.

Our political parties and leadership must defend these hallowed principles.

Not since World War II and the Civil War before it has our nation’s core political structures been so undermined and assaulted. Amazingly, much of it comes from political leaders in the United States.

This assault and undermining must not continue.

The United States Constitution is a remarkable document gifted to us by our founding fathers, trialed by fire over the centuries since, and amended to reflect the modern realities of American life and culture today. It has withstood time and can do so again, but not if we let American democracy fail as some aspire.

Consider:

  • The peaceful transition of power in the United States was brutally hammered for the first time in American history by a sitting president of the United States and his supporters who wanted to derail a Joint Session of Congress affirming the decision of the American voting public through the Electoral College.

  • Our storied United States Capitol was ransacked by an angry mob of insurrectionists, the likes of which we have not seen since the British burned Washington in the War of 1812.

  • Impeachment is being used as a political tool, not a penalty for high crimes and misdemeanors as written.

  • The rule of law in America is being denied, delayed, and ignored by elected and appointed officials who have sworn a contemporary sacred oath to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

  • Enduring foreign alliances like NATO are being threatened and potentially deconstructed for the sake of more favored authoritarianism.

  • It has been proposed that America now have only one religion and that immigrants be mass deported from our shores without due process of law.

  • Women have been nationally stripped of their reproductive rights.

  • Massive and debilitating federal debt has been accumulated by Congresses, Democrat and Republicans alike.

Our party must be the sentinels of sanity when litigating these challenges in the court of public opinion.

It is our duty and responsibility as citizens of this great nation.

“… and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
